New judges are each matched up with a judicial mentor who is expected to provide ongoing support.
Number of Participants: 1
New judges are each matched up with a judicial mentor who is expected to provide ongoing support. New judges receive a package that is reviewed with their mentor within days of their appointment. It includes information about administrative matters and ethical issues, but also touches on basic judging skills that are important for a newly appointed judge. Experienced judges continue to check in with new judges to discuss their work responsibilities and to ease them into hearing cases for which they feel they are well prepared.
