Under the chairmanship of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada, the Right Honourable Richard Wagner, federally nominated Chief Justices and Associate Chief Justices of Canadian superior courts make up the Council and work together to improve the Canadian justice system.
Judges moving justice forward
Every day, in court rooms across this country, justice is at work. Guiding much of that work are judges whose main focus is to protect and enhance Canadians’ respect for the rule of law.
As Chief Justice of Canada, I have the honour of chairing the Canadian Judicial Council. Together with the Chief Justices and Associate Chief Justice of Canada’s Superior Courts, the Council works everyday to foster public confidence.
Council is focused on promoting lifelong learning for judges, protecting judicial independence, and ensuring all judges exhibit the highest ethical standards and conduct. Underpinning this work is Council’s commitment to transparency. It is with these goals in mind that this website was developed.
