This divisional meeting of the Superior Court of Québec brought together judges and lawyers for plenary sessions on various topics.

Objectives

Each of the sessions covered a different part of a larger topic to improve the substantive skills and knowledge of judges.

Summary

The meeting covered important updates on new legislation, upcoming changes to the Code of Civil procedures, and changes in legal culture, including appeals in cases of alternative jurisdiction, and judicial review. The meeting also brought together specialists from the administrative tribunals to provide solutions on ways to improve the efficiency of the judicial system. The meeting also provided statistics to judges on Court management including the number of open civil law cases and family law cases in each district together with the average number of days it takes to hear a matter.
