Court-based Learn at Lunch Program (ONLINE)

Overview: The Court of Queen’s Bench for Manitoba presents a series of Learn at Lunch sessions for all judges of the Court. The Learn at Lunch Program is designed to bring in guest speakers to deliver presentations on a variety of topics. The objective of these training sessions is to give judges an opportunity to develop a better understanding of a specific topic, and to learn about relevant social context issues and developments in the law.
The topics for the Learn at Lunch sessions between April 2021 – December 2021 included the following:
- The United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples in Canadian Law (Prof. Brenda Gunn);
- Jurisdiction — What are our limits? Where does the jurisdiction of the Tax Court of Canada begin?
- Some Current Issues in Civil Litigation, including Summary Judgment
