This seminar focused on a variety of legal and practical topics relevant to the work of the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta.

Objective

The objectives of the seminar were to improve participants’ awareness of current issues facing the court, to refine their skills and further their knowledge on a variety of topics.

Summary

Led by experienced judges, legal academics, and other practitioners, through a mix of lectures, panel discussions, and interactive activities, the seminar explored: summary trials and summary judgments; honest but mistaken belief in age; assessing credibility in the sexual assault context; and interpreting scientific evidence in the courtroom.
