Training that never stops

For the sake of transparency, since 2018, the Council annually publishes a list of courses and seminars available during the previous fiscal year. The following is a list of courses, seminars and other learning activities attended by federally appointed judges to continue their learning and enhance their knowledge.

    Annual Conference

    The AFCC conference provided a multi-disciplinary setting in which judges, lawyers, mediators, researchers and mental health professionals shared insights into the resolution of family conflicts. A wide range of family law-related topics were discussed including parenting time, child support, and parenting during separation and divorce. Also discussed were legislative and policy initiatives, recent and developing research findings, professional practices and models, and most important, methods of resolving conflicts between family members.

    This francophone conference, provided by the Association des juristes d’expression française de l’Ontario (AJEFO), offered an in-depth examination of current trends in various areas of the law, including linguistic rights.

    Commodity Tax Symposium

    Symposium participants explored the current challenges in the indirect taxation domain. This included an assessment of how those challenges would affect the future of taxation and how the existing regime will have to adapt to support and keep pace with increasingly complex businesses operations.
