Members of the Canadian Judicial Council note with sadness the passing of the Honourable Benjamin Hewak

Ottawa, 21 December 2017– Members of the Canadian Judicial Council were saddened to hear of the passing of their former colleague, the Honourable Benjamin Hewak, who served as Chief Justice of the Court of Queen’s Bench of Manitoba for 17 years.  As a member of Council, he is remembered for his work on improving administration of justice, particularly in criminal law matters.  

Council members extend their sympathy to the entire Hewak family.
