Members of the Canadian Judicial Council note with sadness the passing of the Honourable Lorne Clarke

Ottawa, 24 May 2016 – Members of the Canadian Judicial Council were saddened to hear of the passing of their former colleague, the Honourable Lorne Clarke, former Chief Justice of Nova Scotia.  He was a very active member of Council, serving on several committees, including the Executive Committee and the Judicial Education Committee.  He also served on the board of governors of the National Judicial Institute as a representative of Council.  He worked extensively on judicial conduct matters, chairing this important committee of Council in the mid-1990’s.  He is remembered as a thoughtful and caring colleague. Council members extend their sympathy to the entire Clarke family.
