Chief Justice Wagner notes with sadness the passing of the Honourable Beverley Browne, former Chief Justice of Nunavut and member of the Canadian Judicial Council

The Right Honourable Richard Wagner, Chairperson of the Canadian Judicial Council, noted with sadness the recent passing of the Honourable Beverley Browne, former Chief Justice of Nunavut and valued member of the Canadian Judicial Council. Chief Justice Browne played an active role at the Council and worked on issues relation to judicial education, public information, and administration of justice.

 “As the first Chief Justice of Nunavut, Chief Justice Browne played an instrumental role in shaping Nunavut’s justice system,” noted Chief Justice Wagner. “We owe her our deepest thanks for her leadership”.

On behalf of all Council members, Chief Justice Wagner extends his sympathy to the entire Browne family.
