Appointment of Members of an Inquiry Committee

The Canadian Judicial Council announced today the composition of the members of the Inquiry Committee established to review the conduct of Justice Gérard Dugré.   This follows a decision of a Review Panel of 5 members, including one layperson, who concluded that the judge's conduct might be serious enough to warrant his removal.

In keeping with applicable provisions, the Minister of Justice on 4 November appointed Ms Audrey Boctor, partner with IMK Advocates, to sit as a member of the Committee.  Council appointed the Honourable Marc Richard (Chairperson) and the Honourable Louise Charbonneau to sit as the other members of the Committee.

The Committee will announce further details relating to this matter in the coming weeks.

Council takes all complaints about a judge’s conduct seriously and administers its complaint process consistently and in a way that is fair to both the complainant and to the judge who is the subject of a complaint.  Information about the Council and its mandate, including its work in conducting public inquiries into a judge's conduct, can be found on our website.
