Members of the Canadian Judicial Council note with sadness the passing of the Honourable William Esson

Ottawa, 5 August 2016 – Members of the Canadian Judicial Council were saddened to hear of the passing of their former colleague, the Honourable William Esson, who was Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of British Columbia from 1989 to 1996. Chief Justice Esson was active jurist and member of the Canadian Judicial Council. He participated on several committees of Council including Judicial Conduct, Administration of Justice, Judicial Independence and on the Executive. 

Council members extend their sympathy to the entire Esson family.
