Canadian Judicial Council to review the conduct of Justice Robin Camp

Ottawa, 9 November 2015 – The Canadian Judicial Council announced today that it will undertake a review of the conduct of the Honourable Robin Camp, a judge of the Federal Court, about comments he is alleged to have made when he was a Provincial Court judge.

These comments, as publicized in recent media reports, relate to a sexual assault matter he heard at the Provincial Court of Alberta.

Council’s new Procedures for the Review of Complaints About Federally Appointed Judges, which came into effect in July 2015, allow the Executive Director to initiate a review of a judge’s conduct in certain cases.

Council takes the review of all concerns relating to judicial conduct seriously and works to foster ongoing public confidence in the judiciary. Information about the Council, including its Review Procedures, can be found on the Council’s website at www.cjc-ccm.ca
